Whole Home Residential Energy Efficiency and Weatherization Services

Shepherd Energy and Community Foundation, Inc. provided up to $8,000 to $10,000 in energy efficiency upgrades and weatherization services for low-to-moderate income homes in Maryland. Each home that received energy efficiency services underwent an energy audit that included a visual inspection, a combustion safety test (when applicable) and before and after blower door test. If applicable, home owner’s received the following energy efficiency measures services:

  • Air Sealing
  • Increased attic insulation to at least R49
  • HVAC tune-up
  • Duct Sealing and/or insulation
  • Hot water pipe wrap
  • ENERGY STAR qualified appliance upgrade:
    • Refrigerators
    • Clothes washers
    • Dishwashers
    • Heat Pump Water Heaters
    • Freezers
    • Natural Gas Water Heater
  • Replacement of incandescent bulbs with CFL and/or LED
  • Installation of low flow showerheads and/or faucet aerators
  • Heat Pump/Air Conditioner Replacement
  • Furnace/Boiler Replacement
